The first half of 2024 was eventful. Dear Community,

The first half of 2024 is already over. And a lot has happened in the community again...

New Board – Annual General Meeting 2024

The annual general meeting took place as usual on June 20th at the IntercityHotel Frankfurt Airport. After the reports from the managing directors and auditors, the board of directors was also re-elected as scheduled.

In accordance with the statutes, one person each from the two largest players at Frankfurt Airport will be sent to the board: Dr. Pierre-Dominique Prümm will remain active as a representative of Fraport, as will Dietmar Focke for Lufthansa Cargo. In the group of freight forwarders, Susanne Klingler-Werner from UPS SCS was confirmed in her position, as was Michael Hoppe from BARIG as a representative of the airlines. There was a change in the group of cargo handlers: Patrik Tschirch from LUG was elected as the new board member. Christian Riege from Riege Software will join the board for the group of various service providers. In a board meeting scheduled directly, the new board unanimously elected Patrik Tschirch as the new chairman of the board and Christian Riege as his deputy. With the exception of a two-year break, Patrik Tschirch had been on the board since 2014, and from 2020 to 2022 he was also chairman of the board.

At this point we would like to take the opportunity to once again thank Henning Dieter (former Chairman of the Board) and Dr. Tobias Riege (former Deputy Chairman of the Board). Both were able to provide valuable input during their time in office and contributed to the positive development of our community.

A reason to celebrate: 10 years of air freight production at the Frankfurt location

Our association was founded in 2014 by air freight visionaries with the aim of bundling the interests and needs of the various parties involved in the process. With the support of the largest companies at Frankfurt Airport, Fraport and Lufthansa Cargo, the number of members of the association has grown steadily over the years. Today, more than 75 companies from various parts of the air freight chain are among our members.

We were happy to use the ten-year anniversary as an opportunity to celebrate with our members in the IntercityHotel on the south side of the airport. Former board members and members of the association were also among the guests and together we looked back on the past 10 years, the challenges and successes.

In addition to the measures developed in the various competence teams, we have been offering our members the opportunity to network through various events for 10 years now. After the barbecue buffet, there was a fun quiz and an entertaining presentation of our new TikTok channelAfterwards, the DJ received increased attention and the air freight workers in Frankfurt celebrated our club and our achievements of the last 10 years extensively.

TikTok – Go crazy or take off?

"TikTok is only for young people. There are only silly dance videos on TikTok. TikTok content is superficial and pointless." Annika Kötitz (FIEGE) and Felicitas Haller (All Service) refuted these and many other prejudices at our 10-year celebration with examples and ideas. "If you want to attract employees in the future and improve the image of the air freight industry, you have to move with the times," said Annika. With the new channel "aircargocommunityfra“The “TikTok” working group offers added value for our member companies.
And the best part: Member companies can simply send their videos for the channel or take advantage of the offer of a joint production with the ACCF TikTok team. A message to tiktok@fra-fr8.com is enough. If you are interested in working in an exciting team, please let us know.

The proceeds from the tour tickets go to a charitable cause.

The first YACE afterwork event

We supported HAUS61's initiative to offer our young air cargo executives and the new talents in our industry a platform in a comfortable atmosphere. In the Hunky Dory Bar in Frankfurt, our young professionals had the opportunity to talk to experienced managers who play a key role in shaping our air cargo industry at Frankfurt Airport. The executives also benefited from the ideas of the young talents to learn more about their perspectives for the future of air cargo.

Many thanks to Hendrik Bender and Rachid Touzani from HAUS61 who created this format, which offers added value for our YACE community.

Sporting performance of the Air Cargo Community at the JP Morgan Run

“Run with us, fly with us” – this year the Air Cargo Community Frankfurt took part in the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge for the first time. A team of 34 runners from various member companies started on June 5th to complete the 5.6-kilometer route through Frankfurt city center together.

In addition to the brilliant personal performances, there was also refreshment at the Fraport Party Point after the successful run. Despite the effort, we clearly had fun!

Clean-up campaign in CargoCity South

Together with our Trucking and Sustainability competence teams and volunteers from our member companies, we carried out a cleanup campaign in CargoCity South. Within a few hours, we were able to collect several buckets full of rubbish and remove it from CargoCity South. We were accompanied by an ice cream truck, where truck drivers and the participants could get a sweet refreshment. Thank you to our sponsors Air-Tech Transport & Logistics, CARGO7, National Air Cargo and Strike Aviation Group.

Thank you also goes to all the volunteers helping hands at CHI, Fraport, Lufthansa Cargo, LUG and National Air Cargo.

BPI visits the airport

At the beginning of June, the committee members of the Federal Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry eV experienced an exciting day at Frankfurt Airport.

The first part of the day was devoted to interesting lectures and discussions about the transport of pharmaceutical and healthcare products. In the afternoon, the group visited the LUG warehouse and Pharma Healthcare Center. This was followed by a tour of the apron, during which the participants were able to take a look at the actual processes on the apron.

For us, it was an enriching exchange with new inspiration and ideas for our pharmaceutical competence team. We look forward to further meetings with the BPI.
