Common PreCheck describes the approach to centralizing registration processes in CargoCity South at Frankfurt Airport. To optimize processes at Frankfurt Airport, the infrastructure project was managed by the Air Cargo Community Frankfurt and planned and implemented together with the members of the community in the project team.
In order to start the loading or unloading process at the freight handler, the delivery drivers need a time slot, which can be booked in advance via the FAIR@Link community platform. The booking can be done online in advance. However, there are some companies that use local kiosk systems for booking. With the implementation of Common PreCheck, it is now possible to book the slot at Gate 32 in CargoCity South before entering the operating area. After booking and knowing when the process at the ramp at the freight handler begins, the person can use the time until the slot starts sensibly and only head for the destination when the slot starts.
The centralization of the slot booking process promises an improved traffic situation in CargoCity South as well as increased efficiency and reduced staff workloads in the registration offices of the freight handlers due to the outsourcing of this sub-process. In addition, the trucking companies and especially the drivers will be able to plan better and use resources more effectively.
The central infrastructure is located at Gate 32 of CargoCity South. The kiosks can be found in the registration building next to the barrier system and are available 24/7 for slot booking.
