Relief for logistics on Sundays and public holidays: Truck connections between CargoCities at FRA secured
The Air Cargo Community Frankfurt eV is pleased to announce an important step forward regarding truck traffic at Frankfurt Airport.
Following intensive joint initiatives by our association, together with our partners, including the Hessian Freight Forwarding and Logistics Association, Lufthansa Cargo AG and the Frankfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce, a Special permit granted for essential truck journeys between CargoCity South and CargoCity North.
The exemption was granted by the Hessian Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy, Transport, Housing and Rural Areas and published on May 18, 2026 in issue no. 21/2026 of the Hessian State Gazette.
It concerns the Sunday and public holiday driving ban for trucks over 7.5 tonnes permissible total mass and applies explicitly to the immediate area of Frankfurt Airport – from Gate 32 (CargoCity South) to Gate 25/26 (CargoCity North) and vice versa, via Okrifteler Straße and the Airportring.
As an association, we expressly welcome this decision by the authorities. It represents an important contribution to strengthening air freight at Frankfurt Airport and ensures the necessary flexibility for smooth and competitive freight operations.
The close cooperation and commitment of all participating associations and companies have thus contributed to achieving a noticeable improvement in daily operations at the Frankfurt site. We thank everyone who worked with us to find this solution.

The general meeting offers an opportunity for direct exchange within the community, regarding current developments in the association and important future topics for air freight in Frankfurt. Furthermore, regularly scheduled board elections and other elections are on the agenda.
The respective contact persons of the member companies or – in case of absence – a designated representative from the company may participate.
If that is not possible either, the regular members can transfer their vote to another member company.
